ENG vs IND: KL Rahul scored his sixth Test hundred on Day 1 of the 2nd Test at Lord’s.
KL Rahul put on a batting masterclass in an innings that was laced with 12 boundaries and a maximum.
After Stumps on the first day of the Lord’s Test, the India opener received a hero’s welcome from his teammates. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took to Twitter to share a snippet of the “dressing room scenes” after Rahul returned to the pavilion unbeaten on 127.
He is now the first Indian opener in the last 31 years to score a century at Lord’s. The last Indian opener to achieve the feat was Ravi Shastri, the current head coach.
He is the third Indian batsman. After Ravi Shastri and Rahul Dravid to score a century at both Lord’s and Oval.
Rahul is at the second position on the elite list of “Most Test hundreds for Indian openers outside Asia,” with four centuries. Sunil Gavaskar is in the first position with 15 tons.
