Atul Wassan has praised him as the ‘best bet’ for the franchise

IPL 2022: After Ravindra Jadeja, the first all-rounder of the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022), was appointed as the captain of Chennai Super Kings, former India cricketer Atul Wassan has praised him as the ‘best bet’ for the franchise. Wicketkeeper-batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni (MS Dhoni) handed over the command of CSK to Jadeja on Thursday.

Atul Vasan said, Well done, it’s a good decision. I think it doesn’t make sense, because you have to invest in youth. Jadeja’s Test form, ODI form, and T20 form make him one of the most complete cricketers. Just to prepare them for the leadership role you know it will be great for CSK in the long run. Because they have got good cricket for six to seven years ahead. And Dhoni, even if he is the captain, his inputs will keep coming. So, Ravindra Jadeja when he is playing I can’t see Dhoni playing for many years after this IPL. Because he is going to retire.

Vasan further said, once you retire from international cricket, you have no more motivation to play. I don’t know how he kept playing for so long. With the association he has with Chennai Super Kings, he says to invest in the youth. So, in that case, I think Ravindra Jadeja is the best bet. Like Rishabh Pant was doing consistently well for Delhi Capitals and after his excellent performance. We made him the captain of the team.

Chennai Super Kings will now start their IPL campaign against KKR on 26 March under the captaincy of Ravindra Jadeja.
