KL Rahul is probably going through the worst phase of his international career. He has missed many matches due to injuries in the past. Rahul was also dropped from the Test team due to poor form, but he never saw a lean patch across all formats, minus ODIs. He may not even play the next two Tests against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Dinesh Karthik, who played a lot of cricket with Rahul, said he felt bad for the opener.

Karthik said on Cricbuzz –

“He also knows for a fact that if he is being dropped for the next match, which is quite an incident, it is not because of one innings, it is what has happened in the last five-six Tests. He is a class player, he is very good in all formats. At this point of time, I don’t think it is the technique, it is what is happening between the ears. He may need some time away from the game. New Come back from scratch ODI.”

Karthik said that if KL Rahul loses his place for the Indore Test starting March 1, it will not be because of that one unfortunate dismissal, it will be because of his poor performance since the South Africa series last year.

Karthik resonated with Rahul’s situation and revealed that he has gone through similar phases in his career where he went to the washroom and shed a tear or two.

Karthik said –

“It’s a professional world, you have to deal with those sad moments, but as a player when I see what he went through. When you walk out like that knowing full well that it This could be your last innings.” It’s happened to me when you walk into the dressing room, quietly go to the toilet, and shed a tear or two. It’s not a good feeling because there’s not much you can do.”
