IPL 2022: Star Australian cricketer disappointed by being unsold in mega auction, said this

Canberra, ANI. Several players from the Australian team like captain Aaron Finch, leg-spinner Adam Zampa and Kane Richardson were left unsold in the IPL mega auction. In such a situation, Zampa has admitted that he is very disappointed when he is not selected by any franchise in the IPL Mega Auction. He said that seeing the way he is bowling at the moment, he thought that there would be a bid for him in the auction, but it did not happen.

Zampa told Unplayable Podcast, ‘I unfortunately went unsold in the IPL auction. To be honest, I’m a little disappointed by this. I thought that if some year I would get the chance again, it is that or the year. The way I am bowling and from a personal point of view I feel I just want to play the best cricket I can.

Zampa and Kane Richardson played for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) last season. Both left India in the middle of IPL due to increasing cases of Corona. He did this when Australia imposed strict restrictions for international travelers due to Corona. Zampa said, ‘International cricket is first and then IPL. It is very difficult for an overseas spinner to find a place in it. Especially if you are not a mystery spinner but just an expert spinner. Spent a lot of money on fast bowlers in mega auctions. Spent a lot of money on all-rounders and even the batsmen didn’t get good money. They got the right money.

Zampa further said, ‘Once all the money is spent, the franchises go to the spinners. Usually he feels that local spinners can also do fine. I think maybe next year there will be opportunities in IPL. I think I would have been very valuable to those teams, especially the way I am bowling at the moment. Zampa has had a memorable last 12 months and has contributed significantly to Australia’s T20 World Cup winners, taking 13 wickets. The spinner is currently part of the Australian team that is playing in the ongoing five-match T20I series against Sri Lanka.
