IPL 2023: Big Names Craved… Youth Rained Heavily, 5 Scored First Century in Season, One Ended 15 Years Drought

In IPL 2023, big names are yearning for a century. While the young players are raining heavily. A total of 5 centuries have been scored so far in this season and all five players are young. Out of this, 2 have played for India. While two are waiting for their debut. This time neither Rohit Sharma nor Virat Kohli has been able to score a century. This time the young players have shown their mettle.

A total of 5 centuries have been scored in IPL 2023 so far. Out of this, 4 Indian batsmen Prabhsimran Singh, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Suryukmar Yadav, Venkatesh Iyer have hit and a century has come from the bat of England’s young batsman Harry Brook. Harry had scored the first century of this season. This Sunrisers Hyderabad batsman had scored a hundred in 55 balls against Kolkata Knight Riders on 14th April. He hit 12 fours and 3 sixes.

2 days after Harry Brook i.e. on 16 April, Kolkata Knight Riders batsman Venkatesh Iyer scored the second century of IPL 2023. This was Venkatesh’s first IPL century. He hit 104 runs in 51 balls at Wankhede Stadium against Mumbai Indians. He hit 6 fours and 9 sixes. KKR batsman scored a century after 15 years in IPL. Before Venkatesh, Brendon McCullum scored a century for Kolkata in 2008. McCullum had scored an unbeaten 158 runs. This was the first match in IPL history.

Yashasvi Jaiswal, the Young Batsman of Rajasthan Royals, Scored the third Century

The third century of IPL 2023 was scored by young batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal of Rajasthan Royals. Yashasvi, 21, played a stormy inning of 124 runs in 62 balls against Mumbai Indians on 30 April. This was his first century in IPL and third of this season. Yashasvi had also scored an unbeaten 98 against KKR 3 days ago. During this, he had hit the fastest fifty in IPL history. Yashasvi had completed 50 runs in just 13 balls. He had left KL Rahul behind.

The fourth century of the 16th season of IPL came off the bat of Suryakumar Yadav. He scored the first century of his IPL career by hitting a six off the last ball of the innings of Mumbai Indians in the match against Gujarat Titans 2 days ago. Suryakumar had scored an unbeaten 103 in 49 balls. In this innings, he hit 11 fours and 6 sixes.

Punjab Kings’ 22-year-old wicket-keeper batsman Prabhsimran Singh scored a century in the match against Delhi Capitals a day earlier. This is the fifth century of this season. Prabhsimran scored 103 runs in 65 balls. In his innings, he scored 10 fours and 6 sixes. He has become the 7th uncapped cricketer to score a century in IPL.

Prabhsimran is the sixth youngest player to score a century in IPL. The record of scoring a century at the youngest is in the name of Manish Pandey. He did this feat in 19 years 253 days. The interesting thing is that this is the first century of the IPL career of all the five batsmen and this has happened in the same season.
