IPL 2023: Former Australian cricketer Tom Moody will not be seen as the head coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad in the upcoming IPL season. He will replaced by the legendary Brian Lara as the head coach.

Moody’s and SRH have mutually parted way

Lara served as the team’s strategic advisor and batting coach last season, can now be elevated to the top spot. Now Moody’s and SRH have mutually parted ways, ESPNcricinfo

“It has been learned that both Moody’s and Sunrisers do not want to extend their contracts,” the report said.

Brian Lara may step in as head coach

It added that there is no confirmation yet on who could replace Moody, but ESPNcricinfo is aware that former West Indies captain Brian Lara, who was the strategic advisor and batting coach with Sunrisers in the 2022 season, can be at the fore.

Moody’s tenure in IPL

Moody had a successful stint with Sunrisers between 2013 and 2019. Then the team reached the playoffs five times and became champions in 2016.

Sunrisers finished the season eighth out of 10 teams with six wins and eight losses.

Moody will now join the Desert Vipers

Moody will now join the Desert Vipers, one of six franchises in the ILT20 after being recently appointed as the Director of Cricket.

The tournament is to be held in the UAE in January next year.
