IPL 2023: Team can change after toss –

Now the captains of both the teams will come to the ground for the toss with two different team sheets and will hand over their final playing XI after the toss. This is one of the important changes in the playing rules of the IPL, which will be shared with the teams soon. At the same time, the ball will be given dead ball and five penalty runs for wrongdoing of the wicketkeeper.

According to ESPNcricinfo, the IPL said in an internal note that it listed various changes to the laws of the game. One of these is that the franchisees will be allowed to choose their best playing XI. Teams can change their playing XI whether they are batting or bowling. This allows teams to vary their batting and bowling according to the pitch.

Other changes in IPL –

Over-rate penalty of only four fielders outside the 30-yard circle for each over not completed in the allotted time.

Misconduct by the wicket-keeper will result in a dead ball and five penalty runs.

Unfair action by a fielder will result in a dead ball and five penalty runs.

Let us tell you that after the toss, this rule of teams announcing their XI was made in SA20 League. Like SA20, now this rule will be implemented in IPL as well. The teams in the SA20 league put 13 names on the team sheet before announcing their playing XI after the toss. SA20 tournament director Graeme Smith then said that the move was designed to “reduce the impact of the toss” and allow a level playing field depending on the circumstances.
