The 5th match of IPL 2023 was played on Sunday between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians (RCB vs MI) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. India’s 37-year-old wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik, playing for RCB in this match, achieved a major achievement.
In this match played against Mumbai Indians, Dinesh Karthik took the catch of captain Rohit Sharma off the ball of fast bowler Akash Deep and with this he became the third wicketkeeper to take 200 or more catches in T20 cricket. He has achieved this feat in 314 innings of 374 matches. Before Karthik, only Quinton de Kock of South Africa and Mahendra Singh Dhoni of India have done this feat.

Looking at Dinesh Karthik’s T20 career, he played his first T20 match in 2006 against South Africa. Since then he has played T20 matches for Tamil Nadu, South Zone. ICC World XI, Delhi Daredevils, Gujarat Lions, Kings XI Punjab, Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore apart from the Indian national team.
Let us tell you that the record of taking the most catches as a wicketkeeper in T20 cricket is in the name of Quinton de Kock of South Africa. He has taken 207 catches while wicketkeeping in 268 innings of 304 matches. Apart from him, MS Dhoni, who is second in this list. Has taken 203 catches in 349 innings of 362 matches.

Mumbai Indians Scored 171 Runs Losing 7 Wickets in 20 Overs
Talking about the match, Mumbai Indians, electing to bat first after losing the toss, scored 171 runs losing 7 wickets in 20 overs, which included an unbeaten inning of 84 runs off 46 balls played by Tilak Verma. No other batsman could make a big contribution. In response, Virat Kohli scored an unbeaten 82 and captain Faf du Plessis scored 73 for RCB to give an easy victory. RCB won the match by 8 wickets.
