He can watch the matches for free. Star India has the TV rights and Viacom18 has the digital rights. Viacom will broadcast 18 matches online on the Jio Cinema app.

Disney + Hotstar had the Rights to Broadcast IPL Online

Reliance Jio said that users can watch the match in 4K resolution. Earlier, the rights of online broadcast of IPL were with Disney + Hotstar. Users had to pay to watch the matches on that platform. Jio Cinema telecasted the Football World Cup, touted as the world’s biggest sports tournament, late last year.

The company has told that Jio Cinema users can enjoy streaming in 12 languages. This includes Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali and Bhojpuri, apart from English and Hindi. Users can choose the language of their choice. Apart from this, you can also see the data displayed on the screen in your own language. Apart from mobile, users can watch Jio Cinema app on computer and smart TV as well.

Media Rights Were Sold in Four Packages

BCCI sold the media rights in four packages. The board received a total of Rs 48,390 crore from media rights. TV rights were acquired by Star India for Rs 23,575 crore. At the same time, Viacom 18 had captured the digital rights for Rs 23, 758 crore. Viacom also named Package-C as its name. He bid for Rs 2991 crore for this. At the same time, Viacom along with Times Internet bought Package-D for 1324 crores.

Package-A has TV rights for India and Package-B has digital rights for India. Package-C includes select 18 matches (non-exclusive) and Package-D includes overseas TV and digital rights. Reliance-owned Viacom18, which has got the Package-D rights, will telecast the matches in Australia, South Africa and the UK. At the same time, Times Internet will broadcast the matches in the Middle East, North Africa as well as America and the rest of the world.
