In the 27th match of IPL 2023 played in Mohali, Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS vs RCB) by 24 runs. Batting first, Bangalore scored 174/4 in 20 overs, in reply Punjab could only manage 150 runs losing all their wickets in 18.2 overs. In this way RCB registered their third win of the season.

Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis Once Again Got Off to a Good Start

After losing the toss, Royal Challengers Bangalore got off to a good start once again by acting captain Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis. Both of them scored 59 runs without any loss in the powerplay. Kohli and Du Plessis did not give any chance to the Punjab bowlers for 16 overs. And also completed the century partnership.

This partnership was broken in the 17th over and Virat Kohli became the victim of Harpreet Brar after scoring 59 runs in 47 balls. Brar also walked Glenn Maxwell who was dismissed without opening his account in an attempt to play a big shot on the first ball. Du Plessis also walked in the 18th over. He played a brilliant inning of 84 runs in 56 balls with the help of five fours and five sixes. Dinesh Karthik scored 7 runs. While Mahipal Lomror 7 and Shahbaz Ahmed remained unbeaten after scoring 5 runs. Harpreet Brar took maximum two wickets from Punjab Kings.

Opener Atharva Tayde Became the Victim of Mohammad Siraj by Scoring Just 4 Runs

Chasing the target, Punjab Kings got off to a bad start. Opener Atharva Tayde became the victim of Mohammad Siraj by scoring just 4 runs. Matthew Short was also dismissed after scoring 8 runs. Liam Livingstone, playing his first match in the season. Could not do much and got out LBW after scoring just 2 runs. In the last powerplay, Punjab lost their fourth wicket on the score of 53 and Harpreet Singh was run out on a personal score of 13. Captain Sam Karan was also dismissed after scoring 10 runs. Prabhsimran Singh, who came to open, scored 46 runs in 30 balls with the help of three fours and four sixes.

Shah Rukh Khan was able to score only 7 runs and Punjab lost their seventh wicket at 106. Wickets were falling from one end but Jitesh Sharma kept Punjab in the match by playing some tremendous shots. He was also dismissed in the 19th over and RCB won the match. Jitesh played an inning of 41 runs in 27 balls. Mohammad Siraj took four wickets for RCB.
