IPL 2024: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided that the official window of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will open from March 22 to the end of May. Also, finalization of exact dates is pending due to the general elections to be held in the country next summer, the schedule of which depends on the election schedule.
Based on this information given to the franchises ahead of the IPL auction in Dubai on December 19, the Australian, South African, Afghanistan, New Zealand and West Indies boards have made their players available on nominal or full terms. However, the boards of England, Ireland, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have given conditional approval.
First of all, talking about Australia, Cricket Australia has informed BCCI that except Hazlewood and the players who played in the Sheffield Shield final, the rest of the players will be fully available till the time of injury. Also, players will have the option to continue playing in the IPL instead of the Sheffield Shield final which will be held from March 21 to 25.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has said that its players can participate in the league as long as they are not unfit or have no international matches to play. The availability of English players is subject to the ECB’s summer international schedule around the T20 World Cup, which has not been finalized yet.
