IPL 2024: Wanindu Hasaranga will miss the first few matches of IPL, takes back test retirement

IPL 2024: Sri Lanka’s T20I captain leg spinner Wanindu Hasaranga has brought back his Test retirement and has been named in the 17-man squad for the two-match Test series in Bangladesh.

Let us tell you that Hasaranga had announced his retirement in August 2023 to extend his white ball cricket career.

Wanindu Hasaranga will miss the first three matches of IPL 2024 :-

However, now he has been included in the team for the Test series running from March 22 to April 3, due to which his participation in the IPL has been deeply affected.

  If the second Test lasts all five days, Sunrisers Hyderabad – who had included him in their squad for Rs 1.5 crore – will not be able to avail of his services for their first three matches of the season – March 23, 27 and 31.

First test of the series from March 22 in Sylhet :-

Hasaranga’s inclusion is one of two changes Sri Lanka have made to the squad that played a one-off Test against Afghanistan last month. Hasaranga and off-spinner Nishan Peiris have been included, with no place for Asitha Fernando and Milan Priyantha Rathnayake in the squad.

The first Test of the series will start from March 22 in Sylhet while the second match will be played in Chattogram from March 30.
