IPL Playoffs 2022: Lucknow team got a big setback, Rajasthan broke the dream of playing Qualifier-1

New Delhi, Online Desk. In the 15th season of the Indian Premier League, Rajasthan Royals on Friday dealt a massive blow to Lucknow Super Giants with a strong win against Chennai Super Kings. Sanju Samson’s team, which showed great performance this season. Made it to the playoffs on 18 points and confirmed their claim to play in Qualifier 1. Now they will face the top Gujarat team with 20 points.

Batting first, Chennai scored 150 runs for 6 wickets thanks to 93 runs from Moeen Ali. In reply, Rajasthan team achieved the target at the loss of 5 wickets in 19.4 overs to secure the second place in the play-offs. Yashasvi Jaiswal made 69, while R Ashwin made an unbeaten innings of 40 runs to take the team to victory. With this victory, the team of Lucknow slipped to number three. Both the teams have 18-18 points but Rajasthan’s team is better in the net run rate. So it has reached the second number.

Lucknow Dream of Broken Qualifier-1

After league matches in IPL, the first two places in the points table get a chance to play in Qualifier-1. Here the team that loses is given a chance to play with the winning team of Qualifier-1 i.e. Eliminator to go to the final. Lucknow team scored 18 points but could not finish the league stage in second place. She was in second place before Rajasthan’s victory. But this team pushed Lucknow to number three with the defeat of Chennai. With this, the dream of Qualifier-1 of KL Rahul‘s team was shattered. This would mean that if the team missed the eliminator, it would be out of the tournament.
