IRE vs NZ: Ireland’s squad for T20 series announced, Conor Olfert out

Ireland pacer Conor Olfert ruled out of the squad ahead of the T20I series against New Zealand due to injury. Conor Olfert’s treatment was started after the MRI scan confirmed the injury. The squad change comes ahead of Ireland’s first T20I match against New Zealand at Stormont starting Monday.

After impressing the selectors during the inter-pro season and making his recent T20 debut against India. Conor Olfert’s exit is disappointing.

We will soon see Conor Olfert play in the team with rehab starting immediately

Andrew White, president of national selectors, said: “Hopefully, with rehab starting immediately, we will see Conor Olfert play in the team as soon as possible. After impressing during the inter-pros, bowler Fionn Hand will replace him and if he is to be played. If selected for, his batting will be a clear bonus.”

After the first T20 at Storemont on Monday. The next two T20s will be at the same venue on 20 and 22 July respectively. Ireland will be hoping to do better against New Zealand in the T20Is after losing the ODI series 3-0.
