James Anderson will miss the first Test against Australia at the Gabba as England seek to enact the 39-year-old pacer’s charge. The board has put in place arrangements to prepare him for the pink-ball Test in Adelaide, which will begin four days after the conclusion of the first match.

The ECB said in a Statement :-

“Jimmy is fit to play and has no injuries. Arrangements were in place to prepare him for the second Test in Adelaide, with five Tests in six weeks,” the ECB said in a statement.

The decision was made with a view not to put James Anderson at a disadvantage, given the limited build-up that led the teams to stability.

In the 2019 Ashes, Anderson bowled just four overs in the first Test at Edgbaston. Before A calf problem ruled him out of the rest of the Test series.

“With the limited build-up we have on the tour so far, both he and the event did not want to take the ill of his play, which happened at Edgbaston in 2019 when he broke down on the first morning,” the statement added.

“He bowled less than an hour yesterday and was physically in good shape. He’ll do the same thing again in practice today. He’ll be with the Test group this week and work with the coaches at the Gabba. Playing for the Lions.”

The Played An Important Role :-

Anderson has taken 60 wickets at an average of 35.43 in Australia. He was instrumental in England’s final series win in Australia in 2010–11. when he took 24 wickets at 26.04.

He was also England’s leading wicket-taker in the 2017–18 Ashes in Australia when he took 17 wickets at 27.82.

Anderson became the third cricketer from the visiting team to play five Tests at the Gabba, apart from Courtney Walsh and Daniel Vettori. Chris Woakes and Stuart Broad are the two fast bowling options with James Anderson not playing the first Test.
