Joe Clarke signs deal with Melbourne Stars for BBL

The Melbourne Stars have released their first overseas signing ahead of the BBL. With uncapped Englishman, Joe set to join the club for a full season. Joe Clarke signs a deal with Melbourne Stars for the BBL.

As a replacement player :-

Joe Clarke, 25, played three games as a replacement for the Perth Scorchers in last year’s BBL before the arrival of Jason Roy.

The Nottinghamshire opener is coming into an English summer. Where he scored an impressive 136 runs in just 65 balls against the Northants in the T20 Blast. And He has also played for Karachi Kings in the PSL and Manchester Originals in the Hundred.

“I am looking forward to coming to Melbourne for the Australian summer and joining the stars,” said Joe Clarke.

“The stars are known for being involved players. So, It was a very simple decision for me to commit to this summer. And play in front of all the fans on the green. I know Melbourne has been a difficult 18 months. with COVID That’s why I look forward to being a part of the happiness this summer.”

Stars coach David Hussey revealed that Clarke could well do some wicketkeeping in the BBL, with a versatile wicketkeeper-batsman being one of the key pieces to fix the Stars line-up in recent years.

David Hussey said, “It is well known in the UK that Joe is intelligent and we want his time with the stars to lead to even bigger things for him in the future.”

“He would be a great fit for our batting line-up. He is really a clean striker of the ball and has scored consistently in the competitions he has played over the years. Which also gives us an option with the wicketkeeping gloves so that they All elements will be beneficial to the size of our team.”
