This was the 26th century of Joe Root’s Test career as well as he completed his 10,000 runs in Test cricket. Root became the 14th batsman in the world to score ten thousand runs in Test, while he became the second batsman from England to complete ten thousand runs in Test cricket. The first ten thousand runs in Test cricket from England was touched by Alastair Cook.

Joe Root breaks Alastair Cook’s record

Joe Root achieved the distinction of becoming the batsman to complete ten thousand runs in Test cricket in the shortest innings for England. Earlier this record was recorded in the name of Cook. Cook had completed his 10,000 runs in 229 innings, while Root did this feat in the 218th Test innings and left Cook behind. Joe Root completed his 10,000 runs in the 118th Test match of his Test career.
