Johnson, 46, will step down as assistant coach at Surrey County Cricket Club to join Middlesex from mid-February before the start of the 2022 season.

Johnson made his Middlesex debut in 1992 as a former club player. His successful ten-year playing career at Lord’s ended in 2001. When he joined Somerset, he continued his professional playing career for another seven years. which ended in 2007.
He joined Middlesex’s coaching team in 2011. He then worked as the club’s fast bowling coach under head coach Richard Scott. And then his first year on the coaching staff helped the club achieve the Second Division Championship title.
In 2019, Johnson left Middlesex following the appointment of Stuart Law as the club’s new head coach. When he joined as an assistant coach for Surrey.
