Josh Hazlewood has been ruled out of the first Test against South Africa starting on 26 December. The 31-year-old fast bowler suffered a side strain. He recently clean-swept the West Indies in the two-match Test series.
Captain Pat Cummins is out of the second test due to a quad injury
Meanwhile, skipper Pat Cummins is set to return to the starting XI after being ruled out of the second Test with a quad injury. His return will require Michael Neser and Scott Boland to compete for the third pacer’s spot in the XI.
“Pat continues to improve, bowled with freedom on Saturday, and is likely to play in this match, although Josh will need more time.” “With that in mind, we have retained Michael Neser and Lance Morris for this match.”
