Sydney, Jan 19 (PTI) Head coach Justin Langer set to hold talks with the country’s cricket board to extend his tenure after clinching Australia’s first T20 World Cup and a stunning 4-0 Ashes series win.
Langer appointed head coach in 2018 following the ball-tampering scandal in an effort to change the culture of the team and win the respect of Australian cricket fans. His contract set to expire in June.

Justin Langer told SEN Radio on Wednesday, “I’ve never worried (about my future). Before the World Cup and before the Ashes, we didn’t get a chance to prepare better. So it’s not a coincidence.”

Players criticized Justin coaching methods

Players have criticized Justin Langer’s coaching methods, but in the past four months he has led Australia to their maiden T20 World Cup title and a 4-0 Ashes series win against England.

Justin Langer said, “We had two missions to win the World Cup and then win the Ashes. To achieve this in such a short span of time is a huge effort and we are really very satisfied, very happy with it. We are really proud of these achievements.”

On his continuation as coach, Justin Langer said, “We all said we would talk about it after the Ashes. So I hope that in the next few days talks will start on this. There’s a lot to talk about on this.”
