New Zealand’s experienced batsman Kane Williamson has set a flurry of records by scoring a double century on the second day of the second Test against Sri Lanka on Saturday. Williamson scored 215 runs in 296 balls with the help of 23 fours and two sixes. Apart from this, Henry Nicholls (200 *) also scored a double century.

Kane Williamson (215) and Henry Nicholls (200*) shared a 363-run partnership for the third wicket in the Test against Sri Lanka in Wellington. Williamson-Nicholls became the first pair of New Zealand to have a partnership of 300 or more runs more than once. Earlier, Williamson and Nicholls shared a 369-run partnership for the fourth wicket against Pakistan in Christchurch.
With the help of double centuries by both these batsmen, New Zealand declared their first innings at a score of 580 for 4 in 123 overs. Kane Williamson scored the sixth double century of his career. By the way, he also completed the 28th Test century of his career.
Kane Williamson completed 8000 runs in his Test career during this innings. He became the first New Zealand batsman to score 8000 or more runs in Tests. Williamson has scored 8124 runs in 94 tests. This includes 28 centuries and 33 half-centuries. Williamson became the first New Zealand batsman to score three consecutive hundreds in Test cricket more than once.

Kane Williamson also completed 17000 runs of his international career during this innings. He is New Zealand’s second highest international run-scorer. Ross Taylor holds the record for scoring the most international runs for New Zealand with 18,199 runs. Williamson has 17142 runs.
