However, the current circumstances are such that he will have to play in the middle order as a wicketkeeper batsman in the 2.0 avatar. Rahul will captain in the ODI series :-
KL Rahul has left for South Africa tour, where he has to captain the three-match ODI series and after that he will be seen in Test cricket. The team management has kept him there also in the middle order as a wicketkeeper batsman. According to the report of Cricbuzz, the management will give him a chance before wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan. If Rahul does well in Test cricket in the middle order, then he can play further also.
