KL Rahul can become a wicket-keeper batsman for India in all three formats

KL Rahul can become a wicket-keeper batsman for India in all three formats. According to the report of Cricbuzz, there is a high possibility that Rahul will not only keep wicket in three ODI matches but will also take the responsibility of wicket-keeping in 3 Test matches. While Ishan Kishan is included in the 16-member squad, Rahul will be the preferred option for wicketkeeping over Ishan, as he has done in ODIs for some time now.

He can be seen as a middle-order batsman in the two Tests against South Africa, the five-Test series against England, and then the Indian Premier League (IPL) to be held in March. He opened the innings in the last Test played against Australia in Delhi.

Alarm bells for Ishan Kishan?

According to a Cricbuzz report, there are strong indications that KL Rahul is keen to establish himself as a wicketkeeper-middle-order batsman. If KL Rahul keeps wicket, he can secure his place in all three formats. However, KL Rahul is working on his strike rate to fit into the new role across all formats.

If KL Rahul plays as a wicket-keeper in all three formats, then it will be a bit difficult for Ishan Kishan to make a place in the playing 11. Ishan Kishan is not currently included in the playing 11 even on the South Africa tour, Jitesh Sharma got a place in the playing 11 in the second T20 as a wicketkeeper.
