Legend League Cricket: Gambhir’s team gets its first win due to Ricardo Powell ‘s stormy century

In Legend League Cricket, India Capitals, captained by Gautam Gambhir, registered its first win of the season with a century by Ricardo Powell. Southern Super Stars, playing first, gave a target of 164 runs to India Capitals. India Capitals scored 167 runs in 16.4 overs and won the match by seven wickets.

Southern Super Stars made a bad start :-

On Saturday, the match was played between India Capitals and Southern Super Stars at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun. India Capitals won the toss and chose to bowl first. The pair of Upul Tharanga and Dilshan Munaweera of Southern Super Stars, who came to play first, could not give a solid start to the team.

Chaturanga D’Silva played an inning of 56 runs :-

Dilshan was caught by Rusty Theran after scoring four runs on the fourth ball of the fourth over. After this Tharanga returned to the pavilion after scoring 19 runs. Srivatsa Goswami and Ross Taylor were also out after scoring 24 runs each. However, Chaturanga D’Silva played an unbeaten inning of 56 runs on 34 balls, taking the team’s score to 163 after losing six wickets in 20 overs. John Rusty Theron and Ashley Nurse took two wickets each for India Capitals.

Ricardo Powell ‘s stormy innings :-

Ricardo Powell gave a good start to Indian Capitals while chasing the target. But from the other end, Gautam Gambhir (three) and Ganeswara Rao returned to the pavilion without opening the account. After this, Ricardo Powell and Creek Edward made a partnership of 128 runs for the third wicket and brought India Capitals closer to victory.

India Capitals achieved the target by losing three wickets in 16.4 overs. Ricardo Powell scored 100 runs in 57 balls with the help of 10 sixes and 6 fours. Creek Edward scored unbeaten 45 runs in 35 balls.
