ICC Full Member Countries object to the World Cup schedule

BCCI secretary Jay Shah on Thursday announced that “two-three” ICC Full Member nations have raised objections to the World Cup schedule, which has led to changes. Shah’s announcement came after the BCCI’s meeting in New Delhi with the state associations hosting World Cup matches.

“Two-three Full Member countries of the ICC have objected to the program. The teams which have a difference of six days will be reduced and the teams which have a difference of two days will be increased.

However, he did not name the full members of the ICC who requested the change in schedule.

According to the BCCI secretary, the revised schedule should be ready in the next “two to three days“.

We are working with the ICC and we should clear it in two or three days,” Shah said.

Shah has said that only the date and time of the matches will be changed

Shah has said that only the date and time of the matches will be changed, the venue will not be changed. However, he did not specify which dates and timings of all the matches would be changed.

“The logistics team of both BCCI and ICC are working on it. No venue will be changed, only the date and time will be changed.

Shah dismisses suggestions – IND vs PAK match clashing with Navratri

It was earlier reported that security agencies had advised the BCCI to reschedule India vs Pakistan match to be held in Ahmedabad on October 15 as it clashed with the start of Navratri, but Shah dismissed such suggestions.

Change in schedule due to logistical challenges faced by cricket boards

The BCCI secretary said that hosting the India-Pakistan match on October 15 in Ahmedabad is not a problem, but the schedule is being changed due to logistical challenges faced by some cricket boards.

Boards wrote letters asking for changes based on logistical challenges

“If security was an issue then why would the match go there (Ahmedabad)? [Oct] 14-15 No problem. Two or three boards have written letters asking for changes based on logistical challenges. There are some matches that are only two days apart, so playing and then traveling the next day [and then playing again] will be difficult.

World cup tickets

It is not possible to issue tickets for matches until the schedule is finalized, however, the BCCI announced on Thursday that a joint announcement from the BCCI and the ICC on ticket sales for the World Cup would be made next week.
