Avendano was eventually caught in the deep in the last over off Peter Siddle and extended his high in the Golden Arm Race with his 22nd wicket.
Siddle took 23 wickets after bowling Sean Abbott for 5 to bring himself on a hat-trick before the last ball of the innings.
Peter Siddle’s Adelaide Strikers are expected to win their last game of the regular season to secure a final berth to host the Sydney Sixers at the Adelaide Oval.
