MCC Made this big Change in the Rules Regarding Mankad Out

There is often a lot of controversy regarding Mankad out. Although it is recognized by the MCC. But whenever a bowler gets a batsman out, then a new debate erupts in the cricket world. This has happened many times. There was a lot of hue and cry when Deepti Sharma ran out an England player. And recently Adam Zampa tried to do something similar during BBL. But the umpire didn’t give the batsman out.

Adam Zampa tried to ‘Mankad’ Melbourne Renegades batsman Tom Rogers. But was caught by the TV umpire at his own fault, leaving the off-spinner deeply embarrassed. After Zampa completed his follow-through, he was about to throw the ball to Mackenzie Harvey. When he turned and appealed for Rogers’ Gilli Uda Di, but the umpire referred Zampa’s appeal to the TV umpire. The third umpire said that Zampa’s arm went too far ‘vertically’ at the time of ball release.

MCC Issued a Statement Clarifying the Rules

Now the MCC has issued a statement clarifying things under which circumstances a bowler can get run out. According to the MCC, in the case of Adam Zampa, the umpire had taken the right decision by declaring the batsman not out. The MCC also added that there was some ambiguity in the wording of the rule which may have led to doubts and now the wording of Rule 38.3 will bring better clarity.

Let us tell you that Mankad out came in the most discussion when Ravichandran Ashwin ran out Jos Buttler in IPL. There was a lot of discussion about it then.
