Glenn Maxwell and his Melbourne Stars are “ripened” by the impact of COVID-19 as they struggle for a place in the BBL final.
The Gave a Big Inspiration :-
The Stars gave a major boost to their top five hopes on Thursday night. When they dominated the second derby by defeating the Renegades by six wickets.

The win propels the Stars into fifth from the bottom, while the Renegades are last and appear to be heading for their third-straight wooden spoon.
Maxwell scored the peak with an unbeaten 68 and was the man of the match in his second game back from the virus. It was a welcome return to form for one of the BBL’s pinnacle players, who scored just 30 runs in his last five innings.
Covid-19 has hit the Melbourne Stars hard this month and they fielded a patchwork team in the first Melbourne derby earlier this month, which the Renegades won by five wickets.
All Gained Through This Tournament :-
“People are ripe, there’s no secret to it,” he said. “We are all tired, we are all ready to get through this tournament. But we are really proud and we want to put our best foot forward. We want to perform.
“Once we get on the field, we put all that aside and do our best, then deal with the fatigue afterward.”
Maxwell returned to form on Thursday night but was experiencing effects after the game as he was recovering from his illness. He said the last two weeks were difficult for the team as the BBL rescheduled the games.
“We feel like we’ve been thrown around a bit,” he said. “It was a tough spot, but, to the boys’ credit, they’ve kept their heads up, they’ve had their backs.
It Took a While to Get to Full Fitness :-
“I was hit very hard with it, I was very sick for a few days. It takes you a while to get to full fitness – even I experienced with the heat and humidity that it took you too much affects.”
Melbourne will now take on the sixth-placed Strikers in Adelaide on Saturday, then host the Brisbane Heat (second-last) at the MCG on Sunday.

They will conclude their scheduled session at the MCG next Wednesday against the Hobart Hurricanes (4th).
While Marcus Stoinis (back) and Nathan Coulter-Nile (hamstring) make a comeback on Sahil. Internationals Haris Rauf and Kais Ahmed have to go home. Rauf and Kais took two wickets each against the Renegades.
