Legendary Australian opener David Warner has penned a good message for the welcoming people of Sri Lanka, who faced economic and political crisis in the country. The island nation is going through its worst crisis in more than seven decades, with severe shortages of fuel, medicines and essential commodities in the wake of political instability in the country.

People gathered in large numbers to watch the match

Nevertheless, people thronged to watch the match in large numbers. And cheered not only the home team. But also the Australians to thank the guests for agreeing to tour the country amid the turmoil.

Even Australia’s white-ball captain Aaron Finch was overwhelmed by the response. His team received during the limited-overs series. Which included three T20Is and five ODIs, which concluded on June 24 at the R Premadasa Stadium. On Monday, David Warner at the conclusion of the two-Test series
wrote a message on Instagram to express gratitude towards Sri Lanka.

David Warner said, “Thank you Sri Lanka for hosting us here during an extremely difficult time. We are so grateful to be here and to be able to play the match. We love and know that you all You have warmly welcomed us so that we will never forget this journey.”

There was a voice of protest when lakhs of people took to the streets demanding the resignation of the Sri Lankan President. But the month-long series played smoothly without any interruption.

David Warner continued, “I love your wonderful country. Because you always have a smile on your face. And you always welcome us in a better way, thank you for that.”
