His testimonial year was initially scheduling to be held in 2020. But was covering twice due to the impact of COVID.
Michael Hogan joined Glamorgan in 2013 playing via a British passport. And the club’s director of cricket. Mark Wallace, suggested he was likely to be including in the county’s all-time XI.
Mark Wallace said, “The testimonial for Michael has been a long time coming and is well deserved after years of insincere service at Glamorgan.”
“While we knew this day would eventually come. It’s bitter because he’s been such a good player for us and so productive, but he firmly deserves to go out on his own terms.
“He has been outstanding for Glamorgan and will probably take a place on our greatest side and it shows how good he has been with the addition of coming from Australia.
He has one year left for us and wants to move out knowing Michael Hogan. High and of course there are too many wickets leaving before he rides into the sunset.”
“I am very grateful to the club for covering my testimonials and for giving me consent to hold it next year,” Hogan said. “It’s been a tough two years on and off the pitch but winning the Royal London Cup proved it all.
“Wales has felt at home and I look forward to enjoying another successful season at this great club next year before I get to hang my shoes up.
I’m 40 now and I look forward to spending more time with my young family, while this is probably the right time for Glamorgan to look to the future and move in a different direction.”
