New Delhi, Sports Desk. Rajasthan Royals off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and Chennai Super Kings batsman Ajinkya Rahane witnessed a head-to-head clash in the 17th match of IPL 2023 on Thursday. During the CSK innings in the match played at the Chepauk Stadium, there was a mind war between Ashwin and Rahane, which thrilled the fans.

Ravichandran Ashwin Was Going to Bowl the Second Ball

This incident happened in the sixth over of CSK’s innings. Ravichandran Ashwin was going to bowl the second ball but stopped midway through his run-up. Rahane saw Ashwin’s action and then took his revenge on the next ball. When Ashwin came to bowl, Rahane stood away from the stumps. By the time Rahane went back, Ashwin had bowled. Umpire had to declare it dead ball.

The mind game between Ashwin and Rahane increased the enthusiasm of the fans. The fans hooted fiercely on this. Note that Ashwin is a resident of Chennai only. He has played for CSK from 2008 to 2015.

Who Won the Match

Ajinkya Rahane definitely tried to win this mind game against Ashwin by hitting a six over mid-off in the third ball. But Ashwin was considered the winner of this battle. That is because Ashwin came to bowl the 10th over of the innings. Then he got Rahane out LBW on the third ball. Ajinkya Rahane scored 31 runs in 19 balls with the help of two fours and a six.

After this, Ashwin also made Shivam Dubey (8) his victim. Ravichandran Ashwin performed all-round in the match. He scored 30 runs while batting and then took two wickets. Ashwin was adjudged Player of the Match for this brilliant performance. Rajasthan Royals won the match by three runs and topped the points table.
