Misbah will not be receiving any remuneration for his services

This appointment is an honorary role, meaning that Misbah will not be receiving any remuneration for his services.

Instead, Misbah has chosen to support the chairman by offering his invaluable experience and insights, particularly concerning domestic cricket. He met with Zaka Ashraf yesterday (24th July) to discuss his role as an advisor and agreed to contribute his expertise to benefit Pakistani cricket.

Immediately taking on a role with the Pakistan team for Misbah was not easy

Earlier this month, Misbah had publicly shared that the PCB had not contacted him yet regarding a potential return as the coach or chief selector for the national team. He explained that he already had numerous prior commitments. He included commitments with leagues and television channels, which made it challenging for him to immediately take on a role with the Pakistan team.

“I have not been contacted by PCB as of yet. When they will contact me, then I will see. I already have a lot of prior commitments, whether it is with leagues or with television channels. It won’t be easy to immediately take up a role with the Pakistan team. I will have to see what role will be offered and whether. I would be able to do it or not,” Misbah had said.

He assumed the dual role in September 2019

It is worth noting that Misbah assumed the dual role in September 2019, where he took on the responsibilities of team selection and coaching.

Following Pakistan’s inability to secure a semi-final spot in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019, under the guidance of Mickey Arthur, Misbah was appointed as the coach for a three-year term a few months later.

However, after Ramiz Raja became chairman of PCB in September 2021, Misbah decided to step down as head coach of the Men in Green.
