Mithali Raj confident of winning Indian women’s team medal in Commonwealth Games

Kolkata: Former captain Mithali Raj believes that the Indian women’s cricket team has a good chance of winning a medal in the upcoming Commonwealth Games but for that it needs to hit the ground with the right strategy. Women’s cricket has been included in the Birmingham Commonwealth Games for the first time since the men’s tournament was held in Kuala Lumpur in the 1998 season.

Mithali Raj said, ‘I think preparation is very important before any big event

India are in Group A and will take on Australia in their opening match on July 29. Pakistan and Barbados are the other two teams in the group. Mithali Raj said, “I think preparation is very important before any big event. If you enter the field with good preparation and with the right strategy, there will be a good chance of winning a medal.

Harmanpreet has the experience to win the team

The former captain said at the Eden Gardens here that Punjab all-rounder Harmanpreet has enough experience to lead India to the top of these games. The 39-year-old former player said, “She (Harmanpreet) has been leading the T20 team since 2016. So I think she has enough experience to lead the team in the Commonwealth Games.”

The Birmingham Commonwealth Games will be held from 28 July to 8 August. The semi-final of the cricket match will be played on August 6 and the final on August 7.
