Mohammad Rizwan raised questions on Shaheen Afridi’s captaincy, exposed the team management

Pakistan vice-captain Mohammad Rizwan has reacted to the team management’s decision to drop Babar Azam and his successful opening pair from T20I cricket. After Shaheen Afridi became the captain, Babar Azam was sent to bat at number three in the T20I format and he has managed to adapt to his new role.

But Pakistan is missing the opening pair of Rizwan and Babar. Mohammad Rizwan told after the end of the fourth match that the team management is trying different combinations before the upcoming T20 World Cup, so that better results can be achieved.

The pairing of Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam was very successful :-

As opening batsmen, the pair of Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam achieved a lot of success for Pakistan in the shortest format of the game. However, during the five-match T20I series against New Zealand, the team management decided to try a new opening pair and gave young batsman Saim Ayub a chance in place of Babar.

Mohammad Rizwan told the press :-

Mohammad Rizwan told the press, “See the damage has been done, if you look you will see the damage.” As I have mentioned earlier, the captain and the management talked first. Babar bhai has a big heart and we both agreed and there is no issue in it (removing the opening pair). Pakistan fans saw that something good was going on but our management saw that we can do better.

He further said, “If you see Shaheen Afridi or Mohammad Hafeez talking, they never said that we will not open again. They are just trying to find better combinations. Management has already said that you two did well together. So we know both of you will be here.”

Pakistan team has lost the series and is in danger of a clean sweep in the five-match T20 series. Shaheen Afridi’s captaincy has had a very bad start. The team has lost four consecutive matches. The fast bowler criticized for the decisions taken on the field.
