Mohammed ShamiIndian underwent surgery: Team India’s fast bowler Mohammed Shami finally had to undergo surgery. The injury sustained during the World Cup 2023 kept him away from cricket for several months, but now he has undergone surgery on his heel.

This is both good news for the Indian team and also a big shock because now they are out of T20 World Cup 2024 and also now Gujarat Titans will not be able to play in IPL 2024.

Information about Mohammed Shami’s surgery was given late on the night of 26th February: –

Pacer Mohammed Shami, who took 24 wickets in 7 matches in the World Cup 2023 played in India, gave this information late on Monday, 26 February. Shami shared some pictures on X and wrote, “I just had successful surgery on my Achilles tendon in my heel! The foot will take some time to heal, but I’m eager to get back on my feet.”

It will take more than 6 months to return to the field :-

Shami underwent leg operation at the end of February and it will take more than 6 months for him to return to the field. Because of this, he may not be available for IPL 2024, T20 World Cup, limited overs series against Sri Lanka in July and then the domestic series to be played against Bangladesh and New Zealand in October-November. However, he may be fit for the Australia tour. In this way this is a good news.

Lost the opportunity to play T20 World Cup :-

Also, let us tell you, after the World Cup 2023, Mohammed Shami went to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for rehab. There was no improvement in his injury, so he was sent to Britain to get a special injection. However, that injection also had no effect on Shami’s injury, so in the end he had to undergo surgery. If this work had been done earlier then perhaps he could have been fit till the T20 World Cup.
