Monty Panesar Assigned Inner-City Scouting Role to Middlesex

After appointed as Borough Lead for Middlesex. Monty Panesar gave the opportunity to help identify a new generation of young players within London’s inner city.

Monty Panesar, who has been pursuing a career in media since his last season of professional cricket for Northamptonshire in 2016. It is one of three new scouting appointments by Middlesex along with Ayaz Hossain (Ealing) and Jim Clark (Enfield/Barnett).

Mark Lane, Assistant Head of Youth Cricket for Middlesex, said: “We pleased to announce three new Boroughs of Leeds. Which will add a significant amount to our youth programme.”

Monty Panesar’s Ability and Experience to be Able to Draw Someone to the Role Speaks for Itself.

“Monty Panesar ability and experience of the role to be able to draw on someone speaks for itself. And the fact that the two appointments have been involved for the first several years. And so the player has a real understanding of the standard of Middlesex cricket.” Looking at this level of our player pathway is extremely important.

“We are extremely excited by the three appointments we have made and look forward to making a real impact in their new roles.”

The appointments come amid a massive restructuring of Middlesex’s coaching set-up following the recent departure of head coach Stuart Law in the wake of the disappointing 2021 season.

Last week, the club’s interim coach, Alan Coleman. Named as the head of men’s performance cricket. In which a new First XI coach and a club coach appointed in due course.

Monty Panesar takes over his inner-city role from James Fielding. Who left the post after two years due to personal reasons.

According to a Middlesex press release, Borough of Leeds will focus on identifying talent at the under-10, under-12 and under-14 levels in the eight London boroughs. And will build a winter training program to develop the youth already in place 2022.
