More Cases of Infection in Ireland team, Second ODI in Jamaica Postponed

Cricket West Indies (CWI) and Cricket Ireland issued a joint statement on Monday saying that two more cases of corona virus infection have been found in the team while two players have been injured, leaving the team very weak.

Kingston (Jamaica), Jan 11 (AP) The second ODI between West Indies and Ireland, scheduled for Tuesday, has been postponed.

A total of five players from Ireland are in isolation

The names have not been disclosed but a total of five Ireland players are in isolation. Paul Stirling, Simi Singh and Ben White tested positive last week and missed Saturday’s first ODI which the hosts won by 24 runs.

Both the boards are reviewing the schedule and they hope to complete the ODI series. The third and final match is to be played on Friday. The only T20 International match is to be held on Sunday. All these matches are to be played at Sabina Park in Kingston.

It’s tour of America and West Indies has been badly affected

Ireland’s three-match one-day international series against the US to be held from December 26 to 30 was canceled due to infection cases. Initially these matters came to the match officials. A member of Ireland’s staff and several American players tested positive ahead of the second ODI. Matters escalated and the two teams were forced to call off the series assuming close contacts.
