Navdeep Saini made a splash in the County Championship, at his speed, the batsmen of Lancashire were in awe

MANCHESTER: Indian pacer Navdeep Saini performed brilliantly for Kent in their County Championship match against Lancashire on the rain-hit opening day with 3 for 45.

Only 34.2 overs could be played on the first day due to rain. Navdeep took three wickets for 11 overs and 45 runs. Lancashire had scored 112 for four at the end of day’s play. Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar was playing six runs while captain Steven Kraft scored 21 runs.

Navdeep Saini took the wickets of openers Luke Wells (35), Keaton Jennings and Rob Jones. Jones was dismissed leg before by Saini on the first ball. Navdeep Saini took wickets on the fifth and sixth balls but Kraft did not allow his hat-trick to be made.

As far as the Indian team is concerned, Navdeep is still out of the team. He was with the Indian team as a net bowler ahead of the fifth Test against England in Birmingham earlier this month.

29-year-old Navdeep Saini, who made his T20 debut for India in August 2019, has so far represented the national team in each of the formats. He took seven wickets in Kent’s 177-run win against Warwickshire last week. These include the five wickets taken in the first innings.
