Nicholas Pooran: West Indies had a poor performance in the T20 World Cup and failed to qualify for the Super-12 stage. This happened for the first time in the history of T20 World Cup when the Windies team could not reach the main draw. After this poor performance, there has been a ruckus in Windies cricket. Now Niklos Pooran has given up the captaincy of the limited overs team.

Pooran said this in a long post shared on his Instagram account :-

Pooran was appointed captain of the West Indies team in limited overs in place of Kieron Pollard. It was only about six months since he took over the captaincy. In a long post shared on his Instagram account, Pooran said that giving up the captaincy is the right decision for the team. It will give him enough time to prepare for the next ICC tournaments.

Pooran, “After the T20 World Cup disappointment, I thought a lot about captaincy” :-

Nicholas Pooran said in his statement, ‘I have thought a lot about captaincy since the T20 World Cup disappointment. I took up the role with great pride and dedication and gave it my all. The T20 World Cup is something that should not define us. I want to give Cricket West Indies enough time before the series against South Africa in March and beyond.

Nicholas Pooran is fully committed to Windies cricket :-

Nicholas Pooran further said, ‘I am fully committed to Windies cricket and will continue to play a supporting role as a senior player. I believe it is in the best interests of the team and me to step down as the limited overs captaincy of the West Indies.

Pooran further said, “I need to focus on what I can give to the team as a player. I can be successful and give better performance to the team.
