NZ vs SA: Matt Henry takes 7-23 as NZ bowled out Proteas for 95 in the first Test, New Zealand is without skipper Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor.

History does not favor New Zealand when it comes to Test matches against South Africa. The best Black Caps series have been drawn in 16 battles with the Proteas, starting in 1932, 1961–62, 1964, and 2004.

In 45 Tests against the Proteas, New Zealand has won just four.

The win rate of 8.88 percent in New Zealand’s worst win against any competition, leaving behind England (11.21 percent) and Australia (13.33 percent).

South Africa has yet to play a Test at the Hagley Oval, their last Christchurch Test being a draw in 1999 at the then Jade Stadium. His only other Test appearance in Christchurch was an innings victory in 1932.
