ODI World Cup 2023: Sri Lanka has announced a 15-member squad for the ICC World Cup 2023 Qualifier. Sri Lanka has given a place in its team to Matheesha Pathirana, who plays IPL for Chennai Super Kings.
Debut in international cricket against Afghanistan :-
Pathirana, who made his debut against Afghanistan, proved to be very expensive in the first match. He gave away runs at an economy of 7.47 and took just one wicket in that match. He gave 8 wides in this match. Pathirana took only 3 wickets in the entire series of three ODIs played against Afghanistan.
Took 19 wickets in IPL 2023 :-
Mathisha Pathirana, who played IPL for Chennai Super Kings under Dhoni’s captaincy, took 19 wickets. He ‘s called death over specialist. He is popularly known as Baby Malinga. Due to his strong performance in IPL 2023, Dhoni became the most favorite bowler. The Sri Lankan selectors have reposed faith in him on his performance.
ODI World Cup 2023: Angelo Mathews dropped :-
Please tell that Sri Lanka has not included veteran player Angelo Mathews in the team. His bat did not yield runs during the series against New Zealand and Afghanistan. Due to this he was not given a place in the team. And
The World Cup qualifiers will begin in Zimbabwe from June 18. 10 teams will play in the World Cup qualifiers, out of which only two teams will advance to the World Cup. At the same time, ODI World Cup will played in India in the month of October-November.
