Oshada Fernando to replace Angelo Mathews in Galle Test

Oshada Fernando was named as his replacement on the third morning of the game. Angelo Mathews is out of the Galle Test due to Covid-19.

Angelo Mathews in Galle Test-

Mathews was ruled out of the game on the third morning just prior to play starting. Oshada Fernando has been named as his replacement.

“Mathews tested positive for Covid-19,” an SLC statement said. “He was found to be positive during a Rapid Anti-Gen test conducted on the player, yesterday. The test was done, as the player was feeling unwell. Accordingly, he has been isolated from the rest of the team members and is following Covid-19 protocols.”

It is a major blow for Sri Lanka to lose their most experienced player with the hosts already over 100 runs behind and still needing two wickets to bowl Australia out in their first innings.
