‘Oye, hero nahin..’, why did Rohit Sharma say this to Sarfaraz Khan in the middle of the match?

IND vs ENG, Rohit-Sarfaraz: The fourth match of the Test series being played between India and England is being played in Ranchi. In this match, when England had lost 8 wickets in their second innings, the Indian captain was looking to take the last two wickets. It was decided to employ spin attack from both the sides and the pair of Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja were deployed for this task.

Sarfaraz Khan standing at long-on was called for fielding in shot leg :-

Also, Rohit considered it necessary to keep a close fielder against Shoaib Bashir and Ben Fox who were batting. For this purpose, he asked Sarfaraz Khan, standing at long-on, to field at shot leg.

Sarfaraz needed a helmet to stand in this position, which was taking some time to arrive and amid all this, Sarfaraz decided that he would field in the close-in position without wearing a helmet because he did not want to wait for the helmet. I didn’t want to waste time.

Rohit Sharma gave warning to Sarfaraz :-

Soon after this, Rohit went to him and warned Sarfaraz not to do this and told him how dangerous it was. Rohit said, “Oye, don’t be a hero.” Soon after, umpire Kumar Dharmasena came and told Sarfaraz, “No, you can’t do that, helmet is mandatory while fielding in close-in position.”

Thank God that Rohit did this otherwise anything could have happened to Sarfaraz because after just two balls Shoaib Bashir played a shot which hit Sarfaraz’s helmet.

Indian cricketer Raman Lamba died after being hit on the head by a ball:-

Let us tell you that in 1998, the world lost Indian cricketer Raman Lamba when a pull shot hit his head. Lamba had also shown similar carelessness and was fielding at short leg without a helmet. Lamba went into a coma soon after the ball hit him on the head.
