Pak vs Aus- Neser out of Pakistan tour, Mark Steketee called in as his replacement

Uncapped Queensland fast bowler Mark Steketee has been called into Australia’s squad for the upcoming Test tour of Pakistan, replacing the injured Michael Neser.

And another uncapped paceman from Queensland, Brendan Doggett, has been named on standby for the series.

Ruled out due to a side strain

Neser, who made his long-awaited Test debut this summer. He has been ruled out due to a side strain suffered during Monday’s Marsh One-Day Cup match in Brisbane.

Brendan Doggett for squad as cover

Bull’s fast bowler Mark Steketee was rewarding for strong domestic form with another Test call-up. While Brendan Doggett was add to the squad as cover.

Doggett, a Sheffield Shield-winning teammate of Neser and Steketee at Queensland last season before he moved to South Australia, picked up seven wickets against Victoria last week in his return from injury.

WA fast bowler Jhye Richardson is not available for the Pakistan series as selectors look to manage the right arm’s workload.

Neser injured himself while warming up to bowl during the innings break of Queensland’s match against NSW at the Gabba earlier this week.

He attempted to push on but was able to bowl just two deliveries, the second of which was wide, before leaving the field.

CA had initially said that the players selected for the tour of Pakistan would be available for selection in domestic matches till February 17. But the matter seems to be going back.

No practice match is scheduled

The first Test against Pakistan will start in less than a fortnight. Which will start in Rawalpindi from March 4. In which no practice match is schedule.

“It’s one of the big challenges without match practice, but with the experience, we’ve got at Hazlewood, Starc, and Cummins. They’re very well versed in shifting formats,” McDonald said recently.
