England beat Pakistan by 74 runs in the first match of the three-match Test series. Batting first after winning the toss in the Test played in Rawalpindi, England scored 657 runs in the first innings. During this, four batsmen of the English team scored centuries. These include Jack Crowley (122), Ben Duckett (107), Ollie Pope (108) and Harry Brook (153).

In response, Pakistan scored 579 runs in their first innings. Abdullah Shafiq scored 114 runs, Imam-ul-Haq scored 121 runs and captain Babar Azam scored 136 runs. In this way, in the second innings, England came on the field with a lead of 78 runs.

Harry Brook played an inning of 153 runs. At the same time, captain Ben Stokes scored 41 runs in 18 balls. Test debutant Liam Livingstone scored nine runs, Will Jacks scored 30 runs and Ollie Robinson scored 37 runs.
