The second Test of the two-match series (PAK vs NZ) played in Karachi between Pakistan and New Zealand was drawn at an exciting turn. Chasing a target of 319, Pakistan had scored 304/9 in their second innings on the final day, needing 15 runs to win the match, but bad light called off play and the match was called off. Got a draw Sarfaraz Ahmed was adjudged Player of the Match and Player of the Series.

Leading the innings from yesterday’s score of 0/2, Imam-ul-Haq and Shan Masood added 35 runs for Pakistan. Imam was bowled by Ish Sodhi on a personal score of 12. Captain Babar Azam played some good shots but went on to score 27 runs. Masood was dismissed by Michael Bracewell for a personal score of 35 and Pakistan suffered a fifth blow at 80. By lunch, Pakistan had scored 125/5 in 38 overs. Sarfaraz Ahmed was unbeaten on 29 and Saud Shakeel scored 16 runs.
After lunch, the half-century partnership between the two was completed. Sarfaraz continued his good form and brought up his half-century in 62 balls, Shakeel also stood firm and did not give any chances to the New Zealand bowlers. Till tea, Pakistan had made a score of 179/5.

Pakistan suffered an early setback in the final session when Saud Shakeel was dismissed for 32. However, Sarfaraz Ahmed continued to bat brilliantly to score his fourth Test hundred of his career. Sarfaraz was joined by Agha Salman and the duo put on 53 runs to keep Pakistan’s hopes of victory alive. Salman was dismissed for 273 after scoring 30 runs. On the score of 282, Hasan Ali also went on to score 5 runs.
Sarfaraz was also dismissed for 118 and the score of 287 was the ninth blow. It looked like New Zealand would win the match but Naseem Shah played some big shots to turn the match in Pakistan’s favour. However, the umpires called off play due to bad light and the match ended in a draw. Naseem 15 and Abrar Ahmed remained unbeaten after scoring 7 runs. Michael Bracewell took four wickets.
Earlier, New Zealand had scored 449 runs in their first innings, in response Pakistan’s innings was reduced to a score of 408. In the second innings, New Zealand declared the innings after scoring 277/5 and gave Pakistan a target of 319 runs to win.
Let us tell you that the two-match series was tied and both the matches ended in a draw. A three-match ODI series will be played between Pakistan and New Zealand from January 9.
