Pakistan Announced the squad for T20 World Cup. while both Asif Ali and Khushdil Shah have been included in Pakistan’s T20 squad for the upcoming home series against NZ and England as well as the 2021 T20 World Cup starting in October .

Sharjeel was dropped from the 15-man team :-

Sharjeel was completely dropped from the 15-man squad, as was all-rounder Faheem Ashraf.

The 15-man squad has also seen the return of Asif Ali and Khushdil Shah to the T20 setup. the selectors opting for more firepower in the line-up aimed at the middle order.

Khushdil Shah last played for Pakistan in February this year and Asif played for the national team against Zimbabwe in April this year.

Sharjeel Khan and Fakhar Zaman have not been selected for the showpiece event. but the latter are part of the traveling reserve which also includes Usman Q. and Shahnawaz.

The PCB announced the squad at a press conference on Monday. The includes 15 players as well as three reserves in Usman Kader, Shanwaz Dhani and Fakhar Zaman.

PCB also confirmed that the same squad will take on England and New Zealand in the home T20Is ahead of the World Cup. Pakistan’s opening game in the tournament will be against arch-rivals India on October 24 in Dubai.

T20I assignments will begin on 25 September :-

Pakistan’s T20I assignment will begin on September 25 with a five-match series against New Zealand in Lahore. Two home matches against England in Rawalpindi on 13 and 14 October.

Pakistan will then move to the United Arab Emirates to begin their T20 Campaign. the Super 12 stage on October 24.

“Fakhar Zaman, Shahnawaz Dahani and Usman Qadir were unlucky to miss out on the selections. Sohaib Maqsood’s ability to bat and perform anywhere in the top-order has given him an edge over Fakhar.

The presence of three experienced spinners. who are also capable batters. And five genuine wicket-taking fast bowlers made it difficult for Usman to get into the side,” he added.

PCB also confirmed that the same squad will take on Eng and NZ in the home T20Is ahead of the World Cup. Pakistan’s opening game in the tournament will be against arch-rivals India on Oct 24 in Dubai.
