PCB chief Najam Sethi will consult both countries on India-Pakistan series

PCB chief Najam Sethi: Rameez Raja was on Wednesday removed as PCB chairman and a 14-member committee headed by Sethi has been formed to run cricket in the country for the next four months. Rameez Raja lost his seat after the humiliating defeat in the recent Test series against England.

Najam Sethi told reporters in Lahore: –

When it comes to bilateral and other cricketing relations between India and Pakistan, the governments of both the countries will be consulted, Sethi told reporters in Lahore.

India has not toured Pakistan since the 2008 Asia Cup and a bilateral series scheduled for early 2009 was called off after the Mumbai terror attacks on 26 November that year.

Pakistan toured India in 2012 :-

Pakistan toured India in 2012 but bilateral cricket has not been played in the last 10 years. The two teams have faced each other only in International Cricket Council and Asian Cricket Council tournaments. Pakistan has got the hosting of Asia Cup 2023.

BCCI Secretary Jai Shah gave this statement in October 2022 :-

In October 2022, Jai Shah gave a statement on this, after which reaction from the PCB is continuously going on. Shah said that Team India will not go to Pakistan to play the Asia Cup. They will shift it to a neutral venue if needed.

Responding to this statement, there was a response from the PCB that if Team India does not go to Pakistan, then Pakistan will also not participate in the World Cup to be held in India next year. But now it will be interesting to see what the new chairman of PCB has to say on this.
