PCB, Wahab Riaz: The Pakistan Cricket Board is continuing its reforms after the disappointing performance of the Pakistan team in the World Cup and they have now appointed Wahab Riaz as the chief selector of the national men’s selection committee. Inzamam-ul-Haq, who was recently on this post, Resigned from this post after allegations of conflict of interest surfaced.

Wahab Riaz recently announced his retirement from international cricket :-

38-year-old Wahab Riaz recently announced his retirement from international cricket in August, but said that he will continue to play franchise cricket around the world. He has played 27 Tests, 91 ODIs and 36 T20 matches for Pakistan and he was last successful in making his place in the national team in December 2020.

Wahab said in a statement:-

“I am honored to assume the role of Chairman of the National Men’s Selection Committee. I express my gratitude to Mr. Zaka Ashraf, Chairman of the PCB Management Committee, for entrusting me with this responsibility,” Wahab said in a statement. “The decision to involve former players in cricket matters is commendable. I look forward to working for the betterment of Pakistan cricket.”

This will be Wahab Riaz ‘s first assignment as chief selector:-

Wahab’s first assignment as chief selector will be for Pakistan’s upcoming tour of Australia in which they will play three Tests in December. After this series they will play a five-match T20I series in New Zealand. Apart from this, PCB has recently declared former all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez as the new team director of the team.

“We have an important Australia tour which is part of the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle and a T20I series against New Zealand. This will prepare us for the ICC T20 World Cup in the USA;” Mohammad Hafeez said after announced as team director.
