The Perth Scorchers lost a bash boost point for fielding an ineligible player during their BBL game against the Adelaide Strikers at the Adelaide Oval on January 14 (Friday).

The Perth Disregarded Player Agreement :-

The Scorchers brought in central-local replacement player Brayden Stepien to the fixture and held the wicket for 14 overs, even though he was not part of the 18-man Perth Scorchers squad. In addition, Perth disregarded player agreement and remuneration rules w/ the BBL.

The Perth Scorchers were found guilty of breaching the BBL Player Agreement and Remuneration Rules at a Cricket Australia Ethics Commission hearing on Tuesday, 18 January.

The Scorchers field central-local replacement player Brayden Stepien during their KFC Big Bash League match against the Adelaide Strikers at the Adelaide Oval on Friday, January 14.

In addition to not being part of the Scorchers’ 18, Stepien took wickets in 14 overs during the striker. ‘Batting innings. – Player Squad.

At a Cricket Australia Ethics Commission hearing on Tuesday (18 January), Commissioner Alan Sullivan QC heard evidence from both the team and Cricket Australia’s demonstrator and determined that Stepien was an ineligible player.

The Rule Sullivan Also Fixed :-

And the decision to field them was in violation. Rule Sullivan also fixed the punishment for the said violation.

“As such, we have made the difficult decision to stage the first week of the finals series in Melbourne. This decision gives all participating clubs the best opportunity to participate in the final match, receiving the most determined team.”

If the Scorchers win the qualifiers, they will also host the final at Marvel Stadium. The challenger and final will take place at the host’s favorite home ground of the winning team, but the Scorchers are unable to play in Perth due to the closure of Western Australia’s border.
